How To

Add textures for the pen tool

This is simple to do. First of all, you need to find an image (ideally a texture). Then head into DM's Vault > Resources > Brushes. There you can browse and upload your image for the brush. Once that's done successfully, go into one of your adventure's that you DM and you'll see that image as a new option to choose from for your brush

Add a player to your adventure

If the player has already created the account

If a player has already has an account, then you or the player will need to contact Hugo (Cauldron Master) and ask them to move the player (or yourself) to the DM's account. You will require email or username details to provide Hugo (Cauldron Master) with, of both the DM and the player that is wanting to be moved to the DM's adventure.

If your player's account has their own adventure's and other resources, being moved to another DM's adventure will remove all of these things for the player.

If a player doesn't have an account yet

Each person that creates an account will have the chance to enter an invitation code that a DM should give to you before creating the account. See the sign-up page for more about the invitation code. As a DM, you can find your invitation code, to give out to your players, in the DM's vault -> Invite.

Actually inviting one of your player's to be able to see and access your adventure as a DM

Now, even after inviting your player to your adventure's using an invite code, they will likely not see any adventures that they can visit. First the player has to create a character in cauldron. Visit the character's guide page for more information on how to create a character.

Once that is done, you can head to the player's section of the DM's Vault and select the correct player character with the adventure that you want the player to be able to play in.

If the player still can't see the adventure after that, get them to refresh the page or even log out and log back into their account.

Use a URL image for a map

There are two ways to go about this. Both ways are covered below.

Using an image that's already on the web

First off, find an image online that you want to use. Certain websites won't allow this method so it may not be possible to use that image.

Then right click on the image you want and choose Open image in new tab. Take a look at the URL at the top of the page. Does it end in a typical file type such as .png, .jpg, .webp as examples. If so, then you can copy and paste that image into cauldron.Having an image that isn't online

This is still pretty simple, and free to achieve. First, search up free image hosting. Some of the top links are some to choose from.

Delete a map

To delete a map, heading into DM's Vault > Maps. Then select the map that you would like to modify or delete.

This will open the map up to edit. Head into Menu at the top left corner and choose Edit Settings. Scroll to the bottom of this page and you will find a button called Delete. Once you have deleted a map, there is no way of getting it back, so ensure that you definitly do want to delete that map

Get blinders off the grid

Although windows and walls have to follow the grid, it is possible to get the blinders of, of the grid. To do this, head into DM's Vault > Maps and choose a map to do this on. Start creating your blinder and whilst you're dragging that blinder to the end position, hold ALT, this wil move the blinder off of the grid.

Create and use a collectable

Creating the collectable

First off, start by creating a collectable. Head to the DM's Vault > Collectables. Make sure the correct adventure is selected for the collectable you want to use it in and then create a new collectable with the New collectbale button at the bottom of the page.

FIll that page in with the name description and anything else you might want for your collectable. See Collectables Guide for information on how to fill in the collectable.

Viewing the collectable in an adventure

Open up the adventure that you saved the collectable in. Then head into the menu in the top right corner and into inventory. You will see all created collectables here as the DM/GM but your players will only see the collectables that you have set as found.

There are two ways that your players will find or get visible access to a collectable

The first way is that you manually reveal the collectable to the players.

The other way, which is a little more complicated but can be more immersive for your players. Cauldron allows you to hide collectables within a token where players can find them.

To do this, first head into DM's Vault > Maps and choose the map where your token is that will keep hold of the collectable. Find your token, right click and choose Assign Collectable, choose your collectable that you want that token to hide. This is all you need to do to set it up.

Once you have done that, your player's, in the adventure, will be able to move next to the token (that's an important part), right click and choose View. There, the players will not only be able to see the token image in a larger view, but they'll also be able to choose to collect the collectable that you have set to that token.

Create a custom effect

An effect is just a 5x5 (one square) token without any data attached to it (no hp, no ac, etc.). These can be usful and helpful for quick visual effects. The best part about the effects in Cauldron is that if you can find the images for it, you can even use .gif files so that the effect is a moving effect.

It's very simple to add a new image to the list of effects that you have. Simply find the image that you would like to use for the effect (jpg, png, or gif are your best bets, but remember gif are typically bigger so you will quickly eat away at the allocated resources you have on your account. Once you have that image, head into DM's Vault > Resources > Effects. From there you can then browse an upload the image effect that you have.

Once you've done that successfully, you can head into an adventure, right click and choose Create Effect. You should then see your new image appear in the list of effects that you have.
